Introduction to the new Manufacturing Ergonomic Risk Evaluation Tool (MERET)

ABOUT THE PRESENTATION:

A new ergonomic assessment tool has been developed by Andrew Dolhy, CPE in partnership with Motor Coach Industries and supported by a grant from the Research and Workplace Innovation Program of the Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba.

This assessment tool provides a quantitative risk evaluation score for both existing jobs as well as tasks in the development stage of production.Andrew will explain the tool’s risk categories, how to use the excel-based program and the validity and reliability testing that went into the MERET at this session.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
1)  An introduction to the 12 risk elements and their relation to the outcome scores.
2)  How to evaluate tasks that are observable or in the pre-production stage.
3)  The validity and reliability of the evaluation tool and how to properly use it in the workplace.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
Production staff including engineers, maintenance, quality and those in charge of purchasing new equipment or making workstation changes. Or anyone interested in learning more about this topic.

PRESENTER:
Andrew Dolhy CPE
Certified Professional Ergonomist

Andrew is a Certified Professional Ergonomist with over 20 years’ experience in private industry, government and the Occupational Health Centre.  He has a BSc. Degree in Honours Kinesiology Co-op program from the University of Waterloo and a certificate in Business Management from Red River College.  In 2004, Andrew developed and still teaches the Occupational Ergonomics course at Red River College.

Non-Member Registrations – Cancellations received at least 72 hours (3 days) prior to the event date are accepted without charge.  If cancellation is not received by the specified time frame the fee of $25.00 is applicable.
