Risk Planning: Predicting and Preventing Injury

ABOUT THE SESSION

The session will address the importance of understanding the risk of their operations and how to control
it to the lowest level possible. There is a major focus on the identification of critical risks and
understanding how this serves to allow for the assessment of hazards, and the development and
implementation of a control strategy to reduce the risk of loss.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Glyn Jones is a Partner in the firm EHS Partnerships Ltd. He has been teaching and consulting in the area of workplace safety for over 35 years of experience. Glyn is a chemical engineer by training and is a Professional Engineer. He completed a Master’s degree specializing in occupational health and safety.

He teaches occupational health and safety at the University of New Brunswick. He holds numerous professional certifications and is a CIH and a CRSP. He is a regular conference speaker and has been a contributor to Canadian Occupational Safety magazine. He can be reached at gjones@ehsp.ca

Opioid Poisoning Response Training (OPRT)

Friday, September 8, 2023 – In-Person at CSAM

THE SESSION:

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there has been a dramatic increase of opioid poisonings (overdoses) across Canada. It is affecting people in all walks of life and in so many ways. This workshop will show you how to identify when a person might be in an opioid poisoning state, how to manage the situation safely and how to use Naloxone to help to temporarily reverse the effect. At the conclusion of this workshop, Naloxone kits will be available to participants.

Irene Bennink is a skilled trainer with over 2 decades of experience who enjoys sharing her knowledge with people. Irene is currently the only certified trainer in Manitoba authorized to deliver Opioid Poisoning Response Training (OPRT) working in conjunction with Health Canada. Helping people recognize and deal with Opioid Poisoning as well as helping spread the knowledge of Harm Reduction.
