ABOUT THE SESSION
Hearing loss from noise is one of the most common occupational illnesses. However, other agents, known as ototoxins, can cause hearing loss even in the absence of noise. This talk will discuss the risk of noise-induced hearing loss from workplace noise, as well as the risk of hearing loss from exposure to ototoxins. Different ototoxic substances will be discussed, as well as workplace settings in which exposures to these substances is common. Finally, best practices for preventing occupational hearing loss will be described.
