ABOUT THE SESSION
This session will discuss the responsibilities of contractors in the workplace regarding the procurement of products and the management of safety, health, and welfare in the workplace. We will establish the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders within any given workplace and discuss management tools to ensure that the Internal Responsibility System (IRS) has been established and maintained.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Construction Association of Manitoba (CSAM)
Daniel Olson is the Training and Program Advisor for CSAM. Daniel has been working at CSAM for the past seven (7) years facilitating their mandatory and NCSO/NHSA courses as well as helping with membership design, implementation, and maintaining CSAM’S health and safety management systems.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
The participants of this session will understand their responsibilities regarding the procurement of products and the management of contractors. The participants will be able to establish a process so that they can meet their responsibilities.

ABOUT THE SESSION
Special considerations should be given to workers who may be at greater risk of injury or those who have greater exposure to unsafe or hazardous conditions. It is important for workplaces to develop strategies to ensure worker vulnerability is recognized and addressed in policies, training, signage, etc. in an attempt to prevent workplace injury and illness for all workers.

Cassandra Porpiglia is a Prevention Consultant with SAFE Work Manitoba. She facilitates the SAFE Committee Basics and Safety Culture at your Workplace workshops at SAFE Work Manitoba, as well as works with workplaces to answer safety and health questions and delivers consulting services.
